🎓 Educational Qualification

Mandatory Qualification: Candidates must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent examination from the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh, or any recognized board/authority approved by the government.

Desirable/Additional Qualification (Preference will be given to):

  • Candidates who have served in the Territorial Army for at least 2 years, OR
  • Candidates who hold the NCC ‘B’ Certificate.

Important Note: Candidates need a PET-2025 score and a score card from UPSSSC to apply for the main exam. Only those with normalized scores will be shortlisted, so anyone with zero or negative marks in PET-2025 is out of luck.

To even enter, you need an Intermediate qualification, making this easy to access for many UP youth. Plus, if you have NCC or Territorial Army experience, that’ll give you an extra boost during final selection.

📉 Minimum Qualifying Marks

The notification doesn’t list separate category-wise qualifying marks for the written exam. Instead, shortlisting depends on the PET-2025 normalized score. Folks will be picked until they hit the final cutoff—calculated up to two decimal places and based on fifteen times the total category-wise vacancies.

When there are different exam sessions, score normalization follows the rules set out in notice number 42/05/Vigya0 Anu0/2019, released on May 22, 2019.

In competitive government exams like this, cutoff marks decide who moves forward. To succeed, focusing on getting top marks in the written test is key. Checking past cycle cutoffs by category might give you an idea of what score to shoot for in your prep.

🎂 Age Limit

As on 01 July 2026 (reference date):

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years

Make sure to always check the latest government order for the specifics on age relaxations in your category.

⚙️ Selection Process

The selection will be based on the following stages:

  1. PET-2025 Score Based Shortlisting – Only PET-2025 qualified candidates can apply. Shortlisting for the main exam is done based on normalized PET-2025 score (category-wise, 15x total vacancies).
  1. Main Written Examination (Likhit Pariksha) – This is the primary selection basis. Objective type, 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours duration. Negative marking applies (25% of question marks i.e., ¼ mark deducted per wrong answer).
  1. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) – Qualifying in nature. Organized after the written exam for shortlisted candidates.
  1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET/PFT) – Qualifying in nature. Running test for male and female candidates.
  1. Document Verification – Final stage for selected candidates.

The written exam counts the most for your final score. Physical tests are required, but you must pass them first. If you fail the run or fitness check, that’s it – you’re out. Prepping well for both the written stuff and staying fit is super important. This is what you need to do to land one of those spots.
