PwBD (Horizontal Reservation):

With 7,150 seats available in all states and categories, there are great prospects for reserved category candidates. OBC candidates need to make sure that they possess a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate. EWS candidates should have an Income & Asset Certificate for 2025-26 valid for 2026-27.

🎓 Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: Graduation from a recognized University or Institute
• Qualification Date: Must be attained as on 01.04.2026

Important Eligibility Conditions:

• Candidates must NOT have undergone apprenticeship training earlier in SBI or any other organization
• Candidates who have job/training experience of one year or more after completing their graduation are NOT eligible
• Ex-Servicemen and Disabled Ex-Servicemen are NOT eligible for apprentice engagement

Any graduation in any field from a UGC-accredited institution will suffice. Fresher candidates without any prior experience in apprenticeship are the main target audience. This means that the SBI Apprentice 2026 recruitment drive is among the most inclusive in the banking sector.

📉 Minimum Qualifying Marks

• Candidates must score minimum qualifying marks on aggregate in the online written exam
• SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates get a 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks
• There are no minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects
• Merit list is prepared state-wise and category-wise in descending order of marks
• In case of a tie at cut-off, candidates are ranked by age in descending order

The minimum cut-off aggregate will be fixed by SBI. As no subject-wise cut-off exists, an excellent aggregate is more important for success. It is recommended that reserved category candidates try their best to achieve a high aggregate mark.

🎂 Age Limit (as on 01.04.2026)

Age Relaxation:

Relaxation in age will be as per guidelines issued by Government of India. The upper limit of age 28 years is for UR and EWS categories only. You should verify your date of birth before applying because age is one of the most important grounds of rejection in SBI recruitments.

💰 Application Fee

No refund will be made for any reason whatsoever. Any transaction fees (if applicable) will have to be borne by the applicant himself. Please make the payment before the final date, as otherwise the registration shall not be deemed complete.

⚙️ Selection Process

The selection of apprentices involves three stages:

1. Online Written Test (Objective Type)

• Negative Marking: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer
• Each section has its own time limit — no switching between sections

2. Test of Local Language

• Conducted after qualifying the written test
• Candidates must be proficient (read, write, speak, understand) in the local language of their applied state
• Exemption: Candidates who produce 10th or 12th marksheet showing they studied the local language are exempted

3. Medical Examination

• Final engagement is subject to medical fitness as per SBI norms

The SBI Apprentice selection procedure is simple, but there is stiff competition because of the large number of candidates. All four sections need to score well to have an opportunity to be selected. The preparation for the local language paper needs to be done at the same time.

📚 Examination Syllabus & Pattern

Subject-wise Focus Areas:

• General/Financial Awareness: Current affairs, banking awareness, financial news, government schemes, RBI policies
• General English: Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, sentence correction, fill in the blanks
• Quantitative Aptitude: Number series, simplification, percentage, profit & loss, time & work, data interpretation
• Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude: Puzzles, seating arrangement, blood relations, direction sense, basic computer knowledge, MS Office

Medium of Examination: English and Hindi (compulsory) + regional language as applicable to each state. General English section is only in English.

It’s an exam of medium difficulty level just like any other exam for the entry-level position in banking. It’s important to pay attention to all four parts, because each part has the same weight of marks. Negative marking makes guessing wrong answers unfavorable.

The time period for applying is just 21 days – 19 May to 8 June 2026. Do not apply on the last day as the site may get congested due to heavy traffic. Try to apply early and ensure that you have an active email and mobile contact number.

📜 General Conditions (Key Rules)

• Candidates can apply for only one state and appear for the exam only once
• No change of category is permitted after online registration

• Weightage in Junior Associate Recruitment: Apprentices who successfully complete training (including the Skill Evaluation / Trade Test) and receive the National Apprenticeship Certificate (jointly issued by SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC) will get relaxation/weightage in SBI’s Junior Associate recruitment — as per the bank’s recruitment policy at that time
