PwBD Horizontal Vacancies: VI – 15, HI – 16, LD – 14, d&e – 16

Note: These vacancies are provisional and may change as per the bank’s actual requirement.

With 1500 posts available, this is perhaps the biggest PO recruitment drive organized by SBI in recent times. The advantage for reserved category aspirants is that there will be an age relaxation facility along with waiver of application fees. It is bound to be a tough race due to the huge number of vacancies.

Discipline & Educational Qualification

  • Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university (as on 30.09.2026)
  • Final-year students can also apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of passing by 30.09.2026
  • Candidates with Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Medical, Engineering, CA, or Cost Accountancy qualifications are also eligible

Such an open category of eligibility (graduates from ANY stream) is why the SBI PO recruitment process is so popular, as engineers, commerce graduates, arts students, and professionals can all apply. No limitation on subjects means that more people can be eligible.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

There is no defined minimum qualifying percentage for graduation in the official notification. Nevertheless, sectional as well as overall cutoffs will be applicable in each level of exams (as discussed under the Selection Procedure section below).

Cutoff marks will be the determining factor whether an individual qualifies for the next level, and therefore, it is important to know the qualifying marks for Prelims, Mains, and Interview levels.

Age Limit

As on 01.04.2026:

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years
  • Candidates must be born between 02.04.1996 and 01.04.2005 (both dates inclusive)

Age Relaxation:

CategoryRelaxation
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)3 years
SC/ST5 years
PwBD (UR/EWS)10 years
PwBD (OBC)13 years
PwBD (SC/ST)15 years
Ex-Servicemen/ECOs/SSCOs5 years

Note: Cumulative age relaxation is not allowed under multiple categories combined.

Relaxed age conditions really work in favor of the candidates from reserved categories and ex-servicemen. You need to check your eligibility window very well because even a day’s difference in date of birth may cause problems for your candidature.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC/EWS: ₹750/-
  • SC/ST/PwBD: Nil (No Fee)
  • Payment Mode: Online only — Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, or UPI

Once fee is paid, it is non-refundable and not transferable to any other test. Fee structure is convenient for those belonging to reserved categories without any additional fees. Candidates from general category are advised to get their payment confirmed before submitting their applications.

Selection Process

Selection happens in three phases:

  1. Phase-I: Online Preliminary Examination
  2. Phase-II: Online Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive)
  3. Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Personal Interview

The SBI PO selection procedure is purposely made difficult to assess knowledge and personal as well as communicational skills. The candidates at each stage get rejected, and therefore, good performance throughout all three rounds becomes very important for qualifying for the merit list.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test + Group Exercise (20 marks) + Interview (30 marks) = 50 marks total

Final Merit: Mains (normalized to 75) + Phase-III (normalized to 25) = 100 marks. Prelims marks are NOT counted in final merit.

Penalty: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer in objective tests.

The new SBI PO exam pattern calls for thorough preparation in the areas of reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English language, banking knowledge, and writing skills. Detailed knowledge about marks distribution and sectional cutoff is beneficial for students to develop an effective strategy for different sections.
