IBPS is an independent organization established by RBI, public sector banks, and central banks to hold standardized recruitment for the banking sector. The IBPS holds the Common Recruitment Process for PO/MT jobs annually. This is one of the biggest and most respected methods to start your career in banking in India. This is because it is a common exam for 11 different public sector banks in India.

Note: Vacancies of Indian Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India were not announced at the time of the announcement and shall be updated. The above vacancies are tentative and may vary depending on the requirement of the bank.

The vacancies are distributed among 11 major banks; hence, a candidate has a wider choice compared to a single bank recruitment test. In addition, 20% of reserve list may also be maintained.

🎓 Discipline & Educational Qualification

Qualification (as on 21.07.2026): A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognized university, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

  • Candidates must have their final degree result declared on or before 21.07.2026.
  • CGPA/OGPA must be converted to percentage as per university norms and mentioned during registration.

Since there’s no restriction on stream (Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering — all qualify), this exam is open to a very wide pool of graduates, which is one reason it attracts lakhs of applicants every year.

📉 Minimum Qualifying Marks / Cut-off

  • Preliminary Exam: Candidates must clear the minimum cut-off in each of the 3 sections separately, as decided by IBPS.
  • Main Exam: A minimum score in each test plus an overall minimum score is required to be shortlisted for the Personality Test and Interview.
  • Interview: Minimum qualifying marks are 40% generally, and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates.
  • Final merit is based on Main Exam + Interview in an 80:20 weightage ratio.

Cut-offs are category-wise and vacancy-dependent, so they change every year — this makes consistent, high-accuracy preparation essential rather than relying on last year’s cut-off numbers.

🎂 Age Limit (As on 01.07.2026)

  • Minimum Age: 20 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years
  • (Born between 02.07.1996 and 01.07.2006, both dates inclusive)

Age Relaxation:

CategoryRelaxation
SC/ST5 years
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)3 years
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities10 years
Ex-Servicemen/Commissioned Officers5 years

Candidates belonging to the reserved category may avail of the relaxation of SC/ST/OBC along with one other relaxation category but not more than that. Age relaxation certificate should be submitted at the time of interview.

💰 Application Fee

CategoryFee
SC/ST/PwBD₹175 (inclusive of GST)
All Others (UR/OBC/EWS)₹850 (inclusive of GST)

Payment Mode: Online only — Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, IMPS, UPI, or Mobile Wallets. Bank transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate.

The low fee for reserved categories makes this exam genuinely accessible, and since payment is fully digital, candidates can apply from anywhere without visiting a bank branch.

⚙️ Selection Process

The CRP PO/MT-XVI selection process has 4 stages:

  1. Online Preliminary Examination (Objective) — August 2026
  2. Online Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive) — October 2026
  3. Personality Test (self-report, non-qualifying but mandatory) — November 2026
  4. Common Interview — November/December 2026

Only the scores obtained in the Main Examination and Interview will be taken into account to prepare the final merit list while scores in Preliminary Examination will only be considered to shortlist applicants. It is a relatively tough process and hence requires good performance at all stages.

📝 How to Apply

  1. Visit the official website www.ibps.in and click on the “CRP PO/MT” link on the homepage.
  2. Click “Click Here to Apply Online for CRP-PO/MT-XVI” to open the registration form.
  3. Complete “New Registration” with basic details — note down the provisional registration number and password generated.
  4. Upload required documents: photograph, signature, left thumb impression, hand-written declaration, and 10th-standard/equivalent certificate as per prescribed specifications.
  5. Fill in the complete application form carefully using “Save and Next” before final submission (no edits allowed after clicking Complete Registration, apart from the limited Edit Window).
  6. Pay the application fee online through the integrated payment gateway.
  7. Download and save the printout of the system-generated application form and fee e-receipt for future reference.

Since Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, State/UT, and Nationality fields cannot be edited after submission, candidates should triple-check these before hitting submit — this is one of the most common mistakes applicants make.

📜 General Conditions

  • Only one application per candidate is allowed; multiple applications lead to forfeiture of extra fees.
  • No changes to exam date, centre, or venue will be entertained.
  • Candidates must carry a valid photo ID and call letter to the exam centre — mismatches can lead to disqualification.
  • Signature must not be in capital letters, and photo/signature specifications must be followed exactly, or the application risks rejection.
  • Any false information detected at any stage — even after joining — can lead to termination of service.
  • Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of courts in Mumbai.

These conditions are strictly enforced by IBPS, so reading the complete notification carefully — not just this summary — before applying is essential.
