What Is IES & ISS?

Eligibility – Qualification (योग्यता)
✔ For Indian Economic Service (IES)
- Post Graduate degree in:
- Economics
- Applied Economics
- Business Economics
- Econometrics
from a recognized university.
✔ For Indian Statistical Service (ISS)
- Bachelor’s degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics
OR - Master’s degree in Statistics/related subjects.

Age Limit (आयु सीमा)
- Minimum: 21 years
- Maximum: 30 years
(as on 1 August 2026)
Meaning born between 2 August 1996 and 1 August 2005.
Age relaxation applicable as per Government rules.
Application Fee (आवेदन शुल्क)
- General/OBC: ₹200
- Female / SC / ST / PwBD: No Fee
Fee pay online via net banking, credit/debit card or UPI.
Selection Process (चयन प्रक्रिया)
UPSC IES/ISS 2026 selection includes:
- Written Examination (Part I) – 1000 marks
- All subjects have descriptive (essay) type questions.
- In ISS, Statistics Paper I & II are objective type.
- Interview / Personality Test (Part II) – 200 marks
Final selection combines performance in both stages.
