📉 Minimum Qualifying Marks

StageMinimum Marks Required
OMR Written Exam (100 marks)No minimum passing marks; however, candidates scoring 0 (zero) or below (negative marking) will NOT be called for Driving Test
Driving Test (50 marks)Minimum 35 marks out of 50 required to pass

  • Exception: If candidate darkens Option (E) (i.e., chooses not to attempt), no negative marking is applied

It is extremely important to understand the importance of the cut-off trend. Since there is no cut-off mark for the written examination except zero marks, the candidate needs to concentrate more on the driving test in which the cut-off is minimum of 35 out of 50. The candidate scoring high in written will have a greater chance of making it to the driving test through merit ratio.

Age relaxation for reserved category and female applicants makes the pool of eligible candidates very wide. Age limit of 45 years makes sure that all veterans, irrespective of how many years of service they have completed, are eligible for the position. It is important for applicants to make sure that their date of birth on their SSC/SLC certificate corresponds with the birth date on their passport.

⚙️ Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages, with a combined weightage of 100%:

StageMarksWeightage
Stage 1: OMR-based Written Exam100 Marks40%
Stage 2: Automatic Driving Test50 Marks60%
Total100%

Process Flow:

  1. All applicants appear in the 100-mark OMR Written Examination
  2. Based on merit (highest scorers), candidates are shortlisted for Driving Test in 1:2 ratio per category/vacancy
  3. In case of equal marks at the 1:2 ratio cutoff, all tied candidates are called for the Driving Test
  4. Candidates who pass the Driving Test (minimum 35/50) become eligible for merit list
  5. Final merit list is prepared by combining: 40% weightage of written exam + 60% weightage of driving test
  6. A waiting list of 20% of total vacancies is also prepared category-wise
  7. Selected candidates undergo document verification before appointment

The weight of the driving test is 60% as compared to 40% for the written test, which means that practical driving skills become the decisive criterion. The computerized test for driving allows the process to be transparent and unbiased. The candidates who possess good driving skills and experience become the favorites of this process.
