Noteworthy: The educational qualification must be possessed as on the last date of online registration, which is the Reference Date. Those candidates who do not meet this criterion up to the said date will not be eligible.


📉 Minimum Qualifying Marks

The exam uses a Normalisation method (OMR/CBT based). Qualifying marks are as follows:

  • Paper-1 (Language – Hindi & English): Minimum 30% aggregate in Hindi + English combined. This paper is qualifying in nature — marks won’t count toward the merit list.
  • Paper-2 (Regional/Tribal Language): Minimum 30% marks required. Candidates failing here will not have Paper-3 evaluated.
  • Paper-3 (Technical/Special Subject + General Knowledge): Minimum 30% marks in the Technical/Special Subject section is mandatory.

Candidates who fail to meet any of these qualifying cut-offs will be disqualified from the merit list, irrespective of their performance in other papers. Plan your preparation accordingly.

⚙️ Selection Process

The selection will be done through a Computer Based Test (CBT) in two stages:

Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination

  • If total applicants exceed 50,000, a Preliminary exam will be held.
  • Shortlisted candidates (15 times the total vacancies) will qualify for the Mains.

Stage 2 – Main Examination (3 Papers)

  • Paper-1: Language Knowledge (Qualifying)
  • Paper-2: Regional / Tribal Language (Qualifying)
  • Paper-3: Technical / Special Subject + General Studies (Merit-based)

Final Selection: Based on normalised marks in Paper-3, followed by Document Verification.

  • All candidates must fulfil the educational and age eligibility as on the last date of online application (Reference Date)
  • Domicile requirement: Reservation benefits are available only to candidates who are local residents of Jharkhand with valid domicile proof issued from the correct authority in the prescribed format
  • Caste certificates must be valid and in the prescribed format as per JSSC guidelines. OBC certificate issued by the Central Government will NOT be valid
  • If a candidate appears in the Mains exam shortlist but cannot produce valid domicile/caste/income proof during document verification, their candidacy will be cancelled
  • Women candidates who migrate to Jharkhand through marriage are NOT eligible for reservation benefits
  • PwBD candidates claiming scribe/additional time must apply at least 15 days before the exam date
  • Admit card issuance does NOT guarantee eligibility — final eligibility will be verified at document verification
