Shillong Medical College (SMC), Government of Meghalaya has released a rolling advertisement for the recruitment of Professor and Associate Professor posts on a contractual basis in various departments. DISCIPLINE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Professor
Educational Qualification
- MD / MS / DNB in the concerned subject from a recognized medical institution.
- Must meet eligibility requirements as per NMC Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) Guidelines 2025.
Experience
Candidates must fulfill one of the following:
- Minimum 3 years experience as Associate Professor in a recognized medical institution
OR - Armed Forces Specialist Medical Officer with at least 3 years teaching experience as Associate Professor
Additional Requirements:
- Minimum 2 research publications as one of the first three authors
- Completion of Basic Course in Biomedical Research
- Required to undergo Basic Course in Medical Education
Monthly Remuneration: ₹3,20,000 (fixed) for contractual candidates.
Associate Professor
Educational Qualification
- MD / MS / DNB in the relevant subject.
Experience
Candidates must have:
- 4 years experience as Assistant Professor in a recognized medical institution
OR - 5 years experience if appointed directly as Assistant Professor in Government Medical Institution
Additional Requirements:
- At least 2 research publications
- Completion of Basic Course in Biomedical Research
- Medical Education training requirement as per NMC guidelines
Monthly Remuneration: ₹2,60,000 (fixed) for contractual candidates.
AGE LIMIT
- Maximum Age: 70 Years
- Age will be calculated as on 31 March 2026.
MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS
Candidates must satisfy the eligibility conditions as per National Medical Commission (NMC) Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) 2025 guidelines, including required teaching experience and research publications.

CONTRACT TENURE
- Appointment is purely contractual
- Initial contract period: 1 year
- Extendable up to 7 years or until the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
