Odisha Police SPO Recruitment 2026 – 800 Special Police Officer Vacancies
Odisha Police has released an official notification for the recruitment of 800 Special Police Officer (SPO) posts on a contractual basis. DISCIPLINE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be a retired police officer.
- Must have served in Odisha Police in the rank of:
- Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI)
- Sub-Inspector (SI)
- Inspector of Police
- Must be able to read, write and speak Odia language.
- Must have good service record during tenure.
- Must have vacated government quarters (if allotted) before applying.
The recruitment is strictly limited to retired personnel from Odisha Police Department.

AGE LIMIT
- Maximum Age: 65 years
- Age will be calculated as on the date of publication of advertisement.
Candidates above the age limit will not be eligible to apply.
MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS
The official notification does not specify written exam qualifying marks.
However candidates must successfully qualify:
- Physical Fitness Test
- Medical Test
- Interview

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process includes the following stages:
1. Physical Fitness Test
Candidates must complete:
- 5 km running within 25 minutes

Only medically fit candidates will proceed further.
3. Interview

PAY SCALE
The remuneration will be paid as per the Government of Odisha Finance Department Memo No. 2453/F dated 22.09.2022.
Salary will be provided according to the government contractual employment rules.

- Self-attested copies of educational qualification certificates
- Self-attested copy of discharge certificate
- Two character certificates from Group-B Gazetted Officers
