DISCIPLINE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Assistant Professor
Candidates must have:
- MD / MS / DNB / DM / M.Ch or equivalent degree in the concerned discipline from an NMC/MCI approved medical college
- Must be registered with Central or Meghalaya State Medical Council
- Must have 1 year Senior Residency after MD/MS
- Must be a serving medical officer/specialist in Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya
Candidates having DM / M.Ch / DNB may not require additional teaching experience as per NMC regulations.
Senior Resident
Candidates must possess:
- Postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant discipline.
Tutor / Demonstrator
Candidates must possess:
MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS
The candidate must meet the qualification criteria prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) under the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) Regulations 2025.
Post-wise Nature of Job
1️⃣ Assistant Professor
- Tenure based post
- Duration: 5 years or until promotion to Associate Professor
- Only serving doctors of Meghalaya Health & Family Welfare Department can apply.
- Pay remains protected from their existing government service.
2️⃣ Senior Resident
- Usually temporary / training residency position
- Age limit: below 45 years
3️⃣ Tutor / Demonstrator
- Also temporary / tenure-based academic post

PAY & ALLOWANCES
- Selected candidates will receive pay protection as per their existing government service.
- Assistant Professors may receive a teaching honorarium decided by the Health & Family Welfare Department.
TENURE
- Assistant Professor: 5 years or until promotion to Associate Professor, subject to NMC norms.
